I'm so glad to see Connilyn Cossette continuing to write stories about the Israelites in the Old Testament, and highly anticipated this book. Time marches on, and now Israel is crowning their first king as the children from her last series grow into adults. I really enjoyed seeing the effects of some of the country's historical choices on the culture, such as the way the tribes on the east side of the Jordan intermingled more of the surrounding nations' beliefs into their own religion. It was al

Voice of the Ancient exceeds a 5-star rating! If possible, I would rate it 10+ stars! It is perfectly written with well-developed characters (some loved, some despised), brilliant story, descriptive settings, and exquisitely incorporated Biblical truths.
Readers who enjoy the writings of Tamera Alexander, Mesu Andrews, Julie Klassen, Jill Eileen Smith, Kim Vogel Sawyer, and Elizabeth Camden will fall in love with the pace and writing style of this incredible novel.

BOOK REVIEW - Voice of the Ancient - Connilyn Cossette - 4/5 Stars
THE STORY
Connilyn Cossette is one of my favourite authors and I'm so in awe that she was able to write this story while being so unwell. While storywise it wasn't my favourite of hers, the lessons within the story were so profound and thought provoking. Voice of the Ancient is so rich in Biblical history that the whole time I was reading, I just wanted to go read my Bible to remind myself of the stories it contained. While I love ...more

Connilyn Cossette, you are amazing! I'm so glad you have many stories you are eager to write because I am just as eager to read them! Friends, I have read all her Biblical based fiction novels and they never fail to transport me to a world filled with dusty roads, tunics and voices from the past. She quickly became one of my favorite voices in Biblical fiction and she never fails to touch my heart. She wrote Voice of the Ancient while battling illness and I was prepared to offer grace, thinking

Voice of the Ancients is full of family, friendship, suspense and action. I loved Avidan and Keziah's story and how Avi accepted responsibility. Men who aren't honorable aren't seen as heroes. Can be read as a stand-alone, but I am off to read the next novel in The King's Men series!

Another excellent biblical historical fiction novel by Connilyn Cosette! Her books have it all--realistic characters, exciting action/adventure, accurate history, and clean romance. This story will not disappoint and I can't wait to read more as the series continues.
