I’m feeling pretty confident about writing an organized review so let’s dive right in!

Starting off, I thought the pace of this book was good. It kept me intrigued and wondering and guessing and leaving me wanting more of these characters.

Speaking of the characters… I thought they are beautifully crafted and pure. I really enjoyed the gay main characters, that’s one of the reasons I picked this up, but I also liked seeing other lgbtq+ people as well, not just the main characters. I think I noticed a POC character but I could be wrong? I honestly don’t remember.

Alright. When I first picked up this book, I did not have high hopes for it and didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. This was probably because I disliked Fangirl, and I wasn’t sure if I’d feel the same about this novel as well. But I am quite glad to say that I did enjoy this quite a bit! I thought it had an intriguing plot that kept me interested in the mystery and always had me guessing.

However, I did have a few issues with this book, one of them being the enemies to lovers. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be an enemies to lovers, but if it was, it didn’t work. It went like this:
Baz is up to something, he is s u r e l y plotting, I hate this guy, why do I have to put up with this guy oh wait he’s having a mental health crisis I’m in l o v e
All I’m trying to say is that it was a very abrupt change.

Another issue being it was a little too much like Harry Potter for me. It didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would (and as much as it did in Fangirl), but I could still see some elements peeking through. Most things are tweaked a bit but still.

I also had a problem with the use of the other f word that I will not put on this review. I get how people said it and all, but I think it was totally unnecessary and why not just say cigarette instead of putting that word in a book, possibly leaving people to think that word is okay to say.

And my last problem: The ending (before the epilogue). I felt like it was way to abrupt and sudden. It was pretty much like this: omg we found the answer to the humdrum (view spoiler) the end.

And now for the three questions:
Would I recommend this book? Yes! I thought it had a sweet romance and a good plot.
If this was a movie what would I rate it? First of all: this would make an AMAZING movie. Second of all, PG-13. Kissing/romance that I don’t think a ten year old could relate with, and swearing.
Will I continue reading this series? Yes! I’m curious to see where the rest of the series goes! ...more

If I'm being honest, this book really wasn't one for me. I can see why some might like it, but so much of the narrative felt so disjointed. And, maybe I'm missing something, but it seemed like we jumped into the narrative at the end as we keep getting told about huge things that have happened in the past. ...more
