So this is basically a wattpad crossover fanfic between The Hunger Games and The Serpent and the Wings of Night, minus the vampires. BookTok hype has led me astray yet again.

All I've heard about Powerless from the bookish community, for weeks and weeks (months?) is how phenomenal this book is. How great the characters are. How amazing the plot. And the banter!!!!!!!

Are all of y'all on drugs? Cause I'm missing something vital here, I think.

Both of the main character are total badass and definitely grumpy x grumpy
The way they both said to each other "who did this to you" when they were hurt, i was giggling so much

The romance, plot twists, characters, trials, and ending(had me shook) - almost every aspect of this book was so good, considering that it is the author's first novel. (there were some typos but its her first book)This is by far my favorite book I've read so far this year.

"it's just honey" I say too as tears are streaming down my face. the enemies are enemy-ing but the lovers are not loving.
the fact I have to wait til july next year has me tearing up my own flesh and chewing on it like gum.

i have a few things to say and i hope they make sense. i did enjoy it but personally it could’ve been better. the main thing that bothered me was the repetitiveness, i found i was reading the same sentence over and over again at some points, especially with how much everyone’s eye colour was mentioned all the time AND the ‘thin shirt’ thing like why are everyone’s clothes so thin. i did enjoy the fight sequences though, those were cool and i loved all of th 3 ☆ (this has some very small spoilers)

this bit might be controversial but i stand with my opinion :) first off i love paedyn, i love how head strong and badass she is but i felt like she lacked personality. like with kai it’s mentioned that books and poetry were seen in his room, that’s something he enjoys that is entirely different from all fighting he does. with paedyn all i got from her is that she’s a good fighter, she’s intelligent (obviously) and that she likes fruit. i know that her whole childhood evolved around keeping her secret of being an ordinary under wraps and afterwards making sure her and adena were kept safe but she must like something other than watching the stars, i’d like to learn more about HER not all the fighting and training she’s endured. and probably the most controversial bit of this, i like kitt more than kai. not as a love interest, may i repeat, NOT AS A LOVE INTEREST. i don’t know there’s just something about kitt that drew me to him more than kai did. i know he did have a crush on paedyn and she probably influenced him a lot on this but i do believe he was up for changing the way things were run throughout the kingdom when he became king and i still hope he does after everything that happened. i love him, i don’t care what anyone else thinks. finally, my little weirdo kai that doesn’t know what personal space is like PLEASE why were you touching paedyn all the time? i don’t care if she didn’t mind it, why were you petting her like she’s a damn dog? anyway i liked his character, he’s a complex guy that has his morals in check by not killing children and him and his brother need intensive therapy for all the shit their father put them through. ...more

BLOODY HELL 😧😲 I am so immersed into world of Ilya. I am so fond of this world and its magic.
Starting few chapters it was bumpy road but as I went on I was addicted to the plot, I was awe of everyone with there unique magic, I liked the deadly trail games, I enjoyed the world building.

Powerless is perfect, perfect, and perfect again. The way they didn't even kiss, but I kicked my feet, giggled, and felt more butterflies than I normally do reading smut.

The characters are amazing. I felt for Paedyn as if she were a real person. Her hopes, dreams, trauma, fears, and vivid emotions became my own.
