If you want to like poetry but can't get into it, this might be a good place start. The language is stunning and Vuong's semi-autobiographical narrative is really engaging. I'm glad I gave this one a try!

Did not finish. To echo the masses: Beautiful prose with no plot to stand on. I think poetry is Vuong's strongest method of story-telling, not so much the novel.

The writing, the prose, felt like butter. It was absolutely beautiful to listen to. The audiobook is also read by the author, which is always a treat. There were so many poignant lines that if I had been physically reading it, I would have wanted to annotate the shit out of it, just for the pure delight that was the words on the page.
