I thought I was prepared for this book but guys I wasn’t🤧

main thoughts:
i definitely should have gotten hit in the back of the head for not reading this book sooner like I planned😭 my besties were right, ugh this book is honestly a comfort and a home for my soul. Besides the fact that this was entertaining, fun, and cute it was also way more emotional than I was expecting🫣 cause why was I tearing up towards the end? if I see a lemon anytime soon I probably would cry cause I’m dramatic. “I loved the woman I met in apartment B4, but I think I love you a little bit more.”

This book is definitely a new comfort book for me because honestly, as soon as I picked it up I just couldn’t put it down.

This book gave me the same feeling that I got while reading Happy Place by Emily Henry at the beginning of last month. They both gave me the same comfort feeling, and the same emotions. I was drawn into both books and honestly believe it you love one, you’ll likely also love the other one 5 ⭐️

This book is definitely a new comfort book for me because honestly, as soon as I picked it up I just couldn’t put it down.

This book gave me the same feeling that I got while reading Happy Place by Emily Henry at the beginning of last month. They both gave me the same comfort feeling, and the same emotions. I was drawn into both books and honestly believe it you love one, you’ll likely also love the other one.

This book introduced me to the idea of magical realism in a book. The apartment that Clementine got given to her in her aunts will is magical, and occasionally sends the person living there back into the apartment, but seven years in the past - hence ‘The Seven Year Slip’. Going into the book, I was unsure what I was going to feel about that but I loved it. We got to see her falling in love with Iwan, the love interest, in her present but his past, and then have them both interacting in the present which was something I absolutely enjoyed to read.

Okay, now the characters 🤭
James Iwan Ashton, man oh man. Let me tell you, if a man spoke to me in the same way this man spoke to Lemon, it would be completely over for me. I would be head over heels, obsession like level, in love with him. He was so sweet, and caring, and the chef in him, just ahhhh. I always love a man who is a chef - don’t ask, I wouldn’t have an answer for you. I just love them. Something that came from seeing Iwan in both the present and the past (for him) was the fact that I feel we got to know him more. We got to learn his backstory, but also why he did a whole bunch, like becoming a chef and his love for cooking. We got to see how he grows in the past and present which you don’t get a lot in romance unless it’s the usual past and present timelines but I think I found this more enjoyable than the usual one.
Clementine “Lemon” West, I loved her. I’m not even sure what it is about her character that I loved but it was just that she was comforting to me. Something extra which I felt was in this book, which is also why it gave me the same feeling as Happy Place did, was the way we also got to see her grow outside of the romance and find herself more. By the end of the book, she knew who she was more and I loved that we got to see that happen because it made the book feel much more realistic.

Ashley Poston is a new author for me. I debated picking up her other books a few times but never did and I’m honestly so sad about that because I love her writing. She has this way where she can just describe things poetically and so beautifully and I can’t wait to read any book she has written past and in the future, because I will pick them up no matter what they are about.
“That was love, wasn’t it? It wasn’t just a quick drop—it was falling, over and over again, for your person. It was falling as they became new people. It was learning how to exist with every new breath. It was uncertain and it was undeniably hard, and it wasn’t something you could plan for.”

If you’re looking for a book which will just give you a cozy, happy feeling, I highly recommend this book to people who love that extra magic, or even people who aren’t used to the magic genre in a romance because this was executed so well and has definitely inspired me to read more like that. ...more

this is my new favourite comfort novel. after i finished this book, i just pressed close against my chest & it just felt like a warm hug.

iwan & clementine had so much chemistry & it caught me off guard in all the best ways possible. i’m usually taken aback when two people immediately fall in love, but they made it so easy to fall in love with them. i cried. i laughed. i swooned & i really wish this restaurant was real so i could spend every moment happily eating lemon pie & reading this book 🍋

I could sit and reread this over and over again!

This was just the perfect romance book for the right place wrong time, LITERALLY😅 I adore Ashley Poston’s writing and her romances always leave me feeling giddy. I devoured this and I’m so sad that it’s over. If you’re looking for the perfect summer romance this year, it needs to be this one!

god, this book had me grieving the entire time. funeral garb on, black veil, tissue in my pockets just in case. there was something lingering inside my throat desperate to come out but because i lacked the tears to accompany it, i was stuck carrying this sense of doom until the epilogue.

this book was so cute and sweet i loved Clementine and Iwon

- He waited 7 years for this girl
- he got a lemon tattoo over his heart for her 🫠
- i wish we got to see them together more in the present time
- the epilogue could’ve been longer….
