I'm not quite sure how to rate this...
I can see that the writing was good, but I think the style is a taste I haven't yet acquired. I honestly found it confusing at times. I did love the fairy tales though and how they weaved into the plot.
I guessed the main part of the plot twist early on but disregarded it. Of course, if I had been paying more attention to what was going on I may have come back to it. I went through this book in a bit of a daze, and I don't know if it's because I couldn't conn ...more

I can't believe I ate the whole thing.
Yah, I feel like I just swallowed a three course meal in 15 minutes. In other words, I just spent the last two hours, from about 1:30 to 3:30AM, reading We Were Liars on Kindle. Because BookTube and Goodreads Read-a-longs and why the hell not?
Of course this is an easy read. It's YA contemporary. I breezed through it. And I've got to say, I liked it more than I thought I would.

I can't get this book out of my head. I only heard of this book from a friend who simply said "read it". She refused to answer any of my questions other than, "It's a contemporary YA book." I'm glad that's all I knew going in. Other than the story itself, the writing is beautiful, haunting and hazy. Everything I saw in my head was kind of foggy, like looking through a flimsy gauzy cloth. It's a very short read and it packs a punch. Read it. And then read it again.

I heard a lot of people talk about this book, so I decided to check it out. It reminds me of the TV show "Lost" because of everything making sense in the end, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I was kinda confused through most of the book.

This book is both irritating and mildly intriguing.
Though whoever was behind the marketing (kudos to you) did create a mysterious vibe about the book that made me want to read it (wouldn't you want to read a book that everyone is saying they can't tell you what it's about?) as well as continue to read to see what the big lie was. It's just the choppy sentences that really didn't add to the story (I did wonder if the choppiness was in there because of Cadence's issues) made me want to scream.

I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, the hype kind of killed it for me. Everyone was very careful to keep reviews spoiler-free, and keep everything about this book a Big Secret, and so I was cripplingly disappointed when, on page 62, I had already guessed the ending (and I was so sure of myself, I checked the last few pages. Surprise, I was right). I didn't even finish it, and it's a pretty short novel. After the big reveal, which came too early for me, I wasn't interested in pickin
