I've always been hesitant to read one of Ellen's books, because of the writing style. That type has never been my cup of tea, but I had heard such great things, so I finally dove in. While it took a little while to get used to, I didn't really mind the writing style. And Rumble held great promise, but it sadly did not live up to it. This is my first attempt at reading Ellen Hopkins. She writes in like a poetic form. You have to get used to her style. The book was fast paced and dealt with lots of mature topics like suicide, gay, adultery, and teenage sex.

So technically i never actually completed the book. I tried but I just couldn't get myself to push through the last 50 pages. It was very up and down throughout. Just when it got really dull and I was getting extremely bored something exciting happened and I kept going but eventually it was just too much up and down and inconsistency and I really didn't end up liking nearly as much as I've liked other Ellen Hopkins' books I've read. ...more
