okay, so this was my very first abby jimenez book and when i tell you i ate it up, trust me, i did. i think abby jimenez has taken one of those top spots for my favorite authors of all time. her writing is jus ⋆ ˚｡⋆୨୧˚ : 5 stars

okay, so this was my very first abby jimenez book and when i tell you i ate it up, trust me, i did. i think abby jimenez has taken one of those top spots for my favorite authors of all time. her writing is just so precious and easy, which made me fall in love with emma and justin so much more than i would with any other author’s writing. sometimes i felt like i was reading text messages from my best friend who lives 3 hours away, telling me about her day, about her life. it was refreshing. her writing is very reminiscent of emily henry, though in its own way completely, which i think is why i loved it so much.

the characters had depth. they were flawed. they made wrong decisions most of the time, but they were human. they felt real to me, and i related more to these characters in their late twenties than i could even fathom at 17. i related to emma even in the smallest and most mundane things; from not packing until the morning of the day you leave down to getting carotenemia when i was younger. she is me, i am her. their flaws made me love them even more. she wasn’t one of those one-dimensional characters who never made mistakes and did everything right.

where do i even begin with justin. first of all, what. a. man. imagine me saying this while i clap my hands. his maturity and tact when it came to handling the things he was going through (and also the way he handled what emma was going through) made me fall in love with him. he was still flawed, he made mistakes, but none of his quirks took away from his character. on the contrary, it made him real. even with the things going on with his mom, he remained strong for the people who needed him to. good with children, good with dogs, good with women?? what can’t he do. also, all of the scenes with chelsea made my heart turn into a puddle and i haven’t recovered. he was so fucking sweet to her.

the plot of this book was so unbelievably unique. it was so fun that this book was based on the AITA subreddit because i read those all the time. i was never once bored and every single thing that was introduced into the story came to a conclusion in the end. the whole book was a page-turner with zero dull moments. no plot holes in sight.

this book also taught me soooo many things. there were life lessons left and right. i was catching myself highlighting every single sentence in that damn book, which resulted in 100+ highlights of it on my kindle, but that’s a whole different story. it’s one of those reads that makes you feel like you NEED to read it, and now i can't imagine my life without it.

i was right. this is, 100%, my favorite read of the year. and honestly, i don’t think it could be topped.

Now this is how you write romance. Emma and Justin have such as special relationship as well as Emma and Maddy’s friendship. I was laughing throughout and I really enjoyed every character, except for Amber she’s a bitch but I’m glad everything worked out in the end. I loved Abby Jimenez’s writing and I can’t wait to read more of her books. For a romance book lover this was refreshing, truly recommend.

this book was one of my most anticipated reads of 2024. i was ready for a swoon-worthy romance, but unfortunately, this one left me feeling like i'd packed for a tropical vacation and ended up at a chilly lakeside cabin.

I have no idea if this book is 4 or 5 stars. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I loved it. I giggled when they met, giggled when they finally seen each other, giggled when they came back together.

Also the peeks we get of previous characters made me so happy, I squealed.
