Since I've seen the Errol Flynn movie many times, I thought it would be interesting to compare the book. A good part of the book is the basis of the film, including some dialogue. The parts left out deal with a long session in Tortuga, some references to Peter's trials and tribulations in England and problems between Peter and Arabella; otherwise the film stays quite faithful to the action of the book. Ha, wasn't sure if I'd find Sabatini here. I'm not sure how to rate him. I absolutely devoured these novels as a teenager - and what a terrible preparation for life they were! Good fast paced stories - Captain Blood being a good example. (I guess the rest of them have been out of print for years). ...more
