Someone told me to read this because I loved fourth wing, they were obviously on crack
I am probably in the minority . . . this novel was so over-hyped.
I am not a fan of Hunger Games and every time a book tells me it is like the Hunger Games - I cringe away.
I love a slow burn so much but this was so slow burn that I lost the plot completely in its pages. (all 68 chapters . . .) I didn't need so many chapters for a plot to lose its main focus and slow burn the romance in my face in my face. It did not evolve the plot - mostly.

personally i feel like i should have just reread the hunger games. i would have had more fun that way
things i liked:
- kitt at the start
- adera, but she's not seen nearly enough.
- the ending
things i thought could be better:
- explaining the original purpose of the trials better. maybe i just missed that part. like it makes sense for this particular one but what is the reason for it to happen in the years prior?
- the two main characters didn't really stick out to me.
- i wish they would have focu ...more
