Meyer creates no tension and spoon feeds us character motivations/desires/etc., leaving no ambiguity in her writing to the point it feels she is almost insulting the intelligence of the reader. The novel is also steeped in Meyer’s own biases (religion, racism, misogyny), seen most prominently in her characterizations of Bella, Edward, and Jacob.
