I looked forward to this. I adore gothic mysteries for their fairly modern antiqueness and secrecy, my alternative to the paranormal. Mainstream mysteries lack spooky suspense. The cover of this one is exquisite, conveying that enthralling tone. The contents didn’t match. The missing flavour might be attributed to Richard Wilkes-Hunter, attempting a gothic novel under female guise, Caroline Farr.
