I’ve had two June Wetherell paperbacks for a decade. Both exotic locations are apropos so I opened her pages and loved the new voice I heard. This is a fine experience. Uneducated reviewers criticize literature for ‘sounding old’. I expect content of a 1966 novel.... to sound like 1966! Gosh, an era independent of digital gadgets is special. Communiqués by mail and telephone, organizing arrangements before you go out, research by archives, diaries, and by interviewing living people of history.
