Kate Morton is inventive. She excels at painting a completely original family portrait with an intricate history and trail of details that connect beautifully. Beautifully unforgettable!!

I loved this story of a woman abandoned as a child on a ship to Australia in 1913 who then spends her adult life trying to unravel the mystery. The book travels between three time periods as the story twines between the woman, her granddaughter, and the family members in the past at the Cornwall estate. There are deep secrets that have lain buried for almost a hundred years that are finally uncovered as each woman comes to learn some truth about herself. Engrossing, atmospheric, and really fun.
