I read this oeuvre jointly with Kerri, Leeanne, and Shirin. They dismissed the question of Lucy Maud Montgomery writing about Anne’s twenties, 19 years after “Anne’s House Of Dreams”. It succeeds this volume and introduces Anne’s & Gilbert’s marriage. They presumed it was fan interest but I love discussing curiosities. I doubt requests coerce authors into work, unless material was planned.

There really is something about Anne Shirley -- even when the book had its predictable moments, when L.M. Montgomery returns to the various situations and character types that she perhaps overuses a bit, Anne shines through and makes the reading experience absolutely lovely. Although it's not just Anne -- the author does have a magical way with language. The last two books of Anne were my least favorite. I always wonder how the author of Anne of Green Gables (the first book) wrote these two.
Anne is changed sooo muccch, the people around her are not good and lovely as Marilla and Matthew and I know everybody loves this...
So, probably it just me
This was a buddy read with Carolyn, Leeanne, and Kerri, and they loved this, and I enjoyed reading with them more than reading this book!

“Anne of Windy Poplars” covers three years during which Anne works as the principal and school mistress of Summerside High, while Gilbert is in medical school. Most of the first section - aptly titled The First Year - is written as letters from Anne to Gilbert. I did like getting to spend some time in Anne’s point of view, but I think I still prefer the third person view for these books.
