I find that J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood is so addictive that it's nearly illegal! However, this addition to the series does not measure up to some of the prior editions. Still, I do love this series.

The big, bad warrior vamps, their much more civilized shellans (mates), the description of their society, and the very interesting enemies they have make it a fascinating and enthralling series.

I do have my problems, though. Once she ran out of Brothers to marry off, she had to stray around ...more

Before I started reading this book, I’d read some reviews saying how it wasn’t very good. I almost didn’t buy it. Not only because of the reviews, but because I was rather disappointed with John’s book. He was one of my favorite characters, and the book spent so much time on the Lessening Society and revenge that I couldn’t really connect with John and Xhex’s romance as I had some of the others. I went into this book thinking ‘if I don’t like this one, that’s it. I’m not reading more’.
