Fun NA novel. Better than The Mistake but not as good as The Deal.

Oh well.

This one lost me.

Shame because I was anxious to see Dean fall. Too bad I didn’t really feel the fall. He got what he got daily from anyone he wanted it from and I never saw what this one night had that made it different.

I think what the other two books had that kept me very interested was missing in this one. Friendship. The long game. The getting to know each other foundation. This one just didn’t have that. What it had was a totally different kind of game. A chase. It came across very Oh well.

What it had was a totally different kind of game. A chase. It came across very high school like which is what I was initially afraid of when I started the series. I am no spring chicken ya know and I might be getting out of the world where I can read YA and get it. Luckily the first two worked.

(view spoiler)[Allie was a bit too over the top for me. Maybe that isn’t the right description. Too perfect? Too confident? I don’t know if I ever really liked her. But, the acting gig has never been a favorite of mine in books so there is that. Her ability to turn down acting opportunities that people would kill for just because she thought she was better seemed awfully confident for someone in college. I mean, doesn’t it take actors YEARS of taking ok roles before they have enough fame to make a choice? Her behavior after the night with Dean was a cat and mouse, back and forth game that just made me feel uncomfortable. Her leave me alone but he’s mine and I am jealous was just cringe worthy.

I really liked Dean and then he was ruined. I don’t forgive him and I am not sure it should have been as easy as it was for everyone else to have done so. It was out of character and almost had the taste of drama for the sake of drama but it backfired for me. And I am for sure not just talking about what he did to Allie. He hurt the team, both teams honestly and regardless of when it was in the season it was wrong. I never really understood who he really was. I guess he was this person because of a high school incident. I guess he just wanted to be free and do whatever he wanted. Of course he did. He is rich as fuck. He was going to law school because he should. I never thought he wanted it, but he never seemed to want anything. Again, rich as fuck. But, he figured it out in the end, used his money and got what he wanted. Which, was a lovely thought but very unbelievable.

I am not a fan of a character being turned into a villain for the sake of the story. I think it is rude. Especially a character who was a part of the first two books and never was there an inkling of what is now for me to believe how he really is. I felt so very bad for Sean. Truly. His hurt and his anger was the most believable thing about the book for me. It was the one storyline that didn’t feel superficial. It hurt and it felt real and I feel it was a disservice to ruin a character in order to have a love story with someone else. (hide spoiler)]

I hate spewing my dislike about books. I always feel horrible doing so. But, this is my review space and we all get to have an opinion, yeah? What I can say though, I finished this book Saturday morning, it is now Wednesday morning. Normally if I don’t write a review as soon as I finish a book it is a lost cause. Kennedy’s Off Campus Series fast became a favorite with the first book, The Deal in the sports-themed romance category and it hasn't let up.

In the third book in the series, The Score kicks it up a notch though in both the fun-to-read and emotional categories. Readers will find a few shocking surprises with Dean’s story. Who knew Dean Di Laurentis would be so perfect? I know, I didn't! I liked him from the very beginning. He was funny but sweet. He knew what he wanted and that was Allie. This was a formidable addition to the Off-Campus series and I am now firmly an Elle Kennedy fan for life.

What I Liked:
- The characters. As usual, Elle has created characters that are unique, fully fleshed out and realistic. Rarely does an author write double POVs with equal attention, and Elle has done it in each book of this series.

I freaking love this series! Elle Kennedy rocks. I feel like I am right there in the circle of characters and feel what they feel. I loved seeing them fall in love. Off- Campus is on of my top five favorite series that’s out right now, each lead male has that special something that I adore. The couples that get together not only have off the charts chemistry but they help each other grow so much. The third book has all the sweet and spiciness of the first two but focuses on the biggest player of them all out of the guys. I wasn’t sure how this guy was going to not be the playboy he’s use to being.

The Score follows Allie Hayes who is majoring in acting, but is unsure about her next step after graduation. She is also dealing with the final straw with her now ex-boyfriend, he isnt supportive of her future and she’s done with his on and off persona. But he really isnt taking no for an answer, so luckily her best friend Hannah lets her stay her boyfriends place while their away. It also means she has to deal with Dean Di-Laurentis, the biggest playboy and flirt she’s ever met. After a drunken night, Allie tries to forget the one night stand she had with Dean, but he wants more. She wasn’t prepared for Dean to actually want something more from her, nor was he prepared for one girl to finally hook him into wanting a relationship.

Allie has always been in a relationship, after breaking it off with her long time boyfriend who just cant seem to leave her alone, she just want to get away his constant texting. I loved how she and Dean try to deal with each other, she wants him to keep her from reading her text from her ex, he just wants to get in her pants. In the end they do help each other but also awaken some smoking hot feelings neither knew they could have. I loved that Allie resisted Dean afterword’s, a first for him to deal with. She also has this sweet relationship with her father, that reminded me of my dad and I. She adores him and he wants only the best for his little girl, meaning Dean isnt the picture perfect guy he wants for her. Allie and Dean keep their connection a secret, unsure about what their friends would think.

Dean is what many would say is a typical jock, drinking and women are his main focus outside of the rink. But Allie changes everything, other woman arnt doing it for him, all he can think about is Allie. It was funny to watch Deans frustration with trying to convince Allie to give him another shot, but soon he starts to see another side of himself. He actually begins to care about her feelings, as well as seeing that he may not want to be a lawyer, which he just assumed he would do. He finds interest in helping kids with hockey and enjoying watching their growth and happiness in playing. I loved how interacted with this kiddos, so cute!

Overall this couple was definitely the wildest of the bunch, as well as made me laugh the most. Dean is a character, especially at the beginning, he enjoys his snarky sarcastic talks with Allie and Allie knows how to handle him. Both of them learn from each other what they truly want for their futures as well as trusting their feelings. I cant wait to read the next book, because the cliffhanger for Tucker, holy moly!! I have no idea how this is going to turn out!
