Absolutely fantastic! A perfect read for a holiday treat this July 4th. A baseball sports-related romance with a touch of mystery and suspense in the blend. Alessandra Torre has hit this one out of the ballpark and every single play is a homerun! For baseball fans and romance readers, this is a World Series reading experience!

I went into reading Moonshot expecting a baseball romance. What I found was so very much more than that. The story was fun and flirty, an element of forbidden romance, a great mystery that really engaged and kept me turning pages, and through it all a story of Love, real and true and epic.

I absolutely love this book. I've been in a weird reading mood, but something about this book was calling to me for a reread. I decided to give this one a whirl on audio, and it's fantastic.

Team... I struggled with how to rate this book. There was a lot of interesting things about it that you don't often find in romance, but there was also things that I wasn't super into, or that I thought wasn't executed well.

But first, relevant to nothing about the book itself, this is absolutely one of my favorite book covers in contemporary romance. I loved that it focuses on the heroine - not the hero - since it's her story. I loved the stadium lights and framing. I loved that you had a pretty Team... I struggled with how to rate this book. There was a lot of interesting things about it that you don't often find in romance, but there was also things that I wasn't super into, or that I thought wasn't executed well.

But first, relevant to nothing about the book itself, this is absolutely one of my favorite book covers in contemporary romance. I loved that it focuses on the heroine - not the hero - since it's her story. I loved the stadium lights and framing. I loved that you had a pretty good idea of what the book is about by looking at this cover. Truly well done and beautiful.

What I Liked:
- A complex heroine. I'm not spoiling anything by saying that this is a second chance romance, in where things weren't seen through during their first chance, but were during their second change. Some people might object to the circumstances on how they got together after their separation, but I thought it was great. Life is not shiny and rainbows all the time, and these characters made decisions that might not always be ethical/moral. I was totally fine with that.
- Sports backdrop. You all know I love a good ol' sports romance and this one goes deep. I loved that Ty was a part of the team, respected and really knew her shit. A handsome shortstop named Chase added to the mix also doesn't hurt.

What I Didn't Like:
- It didn't make me care. This is an ineffable piece of feedback, but for some reason, I just didn't really care about the leads. Sure they were interesting, had back stories and were layered... but at the end of the day, I didn't really care what happened to him. (view spoiler)
- The suspense subplot. Either go all in with the murder mystery or don't. The suspense was fine, but it was so much on the periphery for most of the book, it seemed really forced when it was brought to the forefront. Something like that should have taken a bit more center stage, and it just didn't pay off enough for me at the end.

The Bottom Line:
This is a fine sports romance, but there are others with more angst that feels less forced. That said, I'm still obsessed with this cover. ...more
