Absolutely Perfect!

I haven't loved a book this much in a very long time! It has the perfect amount of romance, angst, comedy and drama that only J.M. Darhower does. Not a lot of books make me cry but as I read Kennedy's journal entries from her and Jonathan's past I couldn't stop the tears from coming. I know I will read this again and again! 😍💞 ...more

He’s the big dreamer with stars in his eyes, and she’s the girl who loves him enough to step back into the shadows and let him live his dreams – even as he leaves her when she needs him most. I set out the “Go Away I’m Reading” sign, fixed me a tall icy drink with a bag of white cheddar popcorn, and got down to the business of reading. He’s the big dreamer with stars in his eyes, and she’s the girl who loves him enough to step back into the shadows and let him live his dreams – even as he leaves her when she needs him most. I set out the “Go Away I’m Reading” sign, fixed me a tall icy drink with a bag of white cheddar popcorn, and got down to the business of reading. Short “necessity” stops were the only thing between me and the end of this book and I never felt guilty one single time. If you have a weakness for second chance romances, this will be a sure bet.

Jonathan Cunningham and Kennedy Garfield were both heart crushers. I loved them both in very different ways. Jonathan wore on my patience, but he’s just so darn sweet and kind in so many ways. And Kennedy, bless her heart, is a bit touchy and weary. But who could blame her? She’s carried the load alone and heartbroken. You’ll find so many special quotes within their interaction with one another that will absolutely take your breath away. My copy is covered in yellow highlighter.

Intensely packed full of raw emotions, wit, humor and real romance, Ghosted will tantalize and steal your heart. It will also break your heart and then put it back together again piece by piece. Making amends for his screw-ups is a painful and rocky road for Jonathan. And trusting that he has truly changed his ways is a difficult process for Kennedy. But they must first put their painful past behind them before moving forward with any hope for a future together as a family. It is this journey that will put readers through the wringer before any glimpse of a chance for a positive ending surfaces.

Little Maddie is adorable with a capital “A”. She shines brightly in every scene she steps into. Her interaction with Breezeo, her daddy’s alter ego, is brilliantly and so sweetly presented. Darhower did a fabulous job in showcasing this little darlin’. You can hear her voice perfectly pitched in each line she speaks. I was simply wowed by her character. And all the while I prayed her daddy would hero-up and be the super-dad that would make her dreams come true.

Using dual points of view, Darhower’s writing is extraordinary as she leads readers on a journey through emotionally challenging years where Kennedy and Jonathan are together and apart. The dialogue is beautifully presented — sweet, tender, sometimes hurtful and painfully raw. There’s plenty of all those emotional ups and downs, along with surprises, as well, that will keep you mesmerized and intrigued throughout. And you’ll also find a strong and entertaining secondary cast who add an extra layer of depth and moral support.

I can’t begin to give enough positive praise to the plot or the characters to do justice to the remarkable and unforgettable reading experience here. A beyond amazing read – second chance romance at its very best! No doubt whatsoever that this story makes it high on my list of Top Reads of 2017. It is sheer perfection and, without a doubt, one of the best second chance romances I’ve read. I would put it up there in the company of The Sweet Gum Tree, and it has held a top-ten spot for many years. ...more

This is one epic second chance love story starring Hollywood sensation Johnny and grocery store assistant manager Kennedy with whom he has a five year old daughter (Maddie)that he has never met. He shows up out of the blue wanting to meet her and somehow make amends. Their story is told in the present and the past from when they met in high school to how their relationship crashed and burned. I was equally riveted between “then” and “ now”. My dad stopped drinking right before my 6th birthday, so I don't remember the pain or heartbreak or disappointment that addiction can bring to a family since my memories are all of my dad being sober. However, I know my mom and my sister have a different perspective of those years when he wasn't. I can't imagine how hard it is to love an addict, to continually feel let down, sad, frustrated, angry and "not enough" when the booze or drugs always come first. WOW! WOW! WOW!
I am blown away by this book! It popped up in my kindle unlimited suggestions, I liked the description, and I decided to read the book. I did not just get a book. I got a heartbreaking yet beautiful story written about young love, superheroes, angst, brokenness, addiction, a child's love and second chances.
