Re-Read, 2024

So yeah. Wow. This is my third re-read. I originally read it in 2013, listened to the audio in 2020 and now, four years later, I'm reading it again. What I'll tell you is, well, it's still something. More than something. But, this time, I kind of saw it a little differently and would probably give this one four stars instead of the five. That's not taking anything away from my love, it's just a little rough and shows some age but the story and Ty and Zane, they definitely hold up. I Re-Read, 2024

So yeah. Wow. This is my third re-read. I originally read it in 2013, listened to the audio in 2020 and now, four years later, I'm reading it again. What I'll tell you is, well, it's still something. That's not taking anything away from my love, it's just a little rough and shows some age but the story and Ty and Zane, they definitely hold up. I'm keeping my original rating(s) especially since I know they are just going to get better, but yeah, I had a few issues this go round.

It's interesting to do a re-read, especially with so much time in-between. I remembered some but a lot read sort of new. It's also interesting to go from the audio as your last read back to the book. Audio, I just absorb it differently. But more than any of that, it's quite something to pick up on things that you just know are going to come back and bite everyone in the ass later in the series. Having sort of an inside knowledge of what is to come and be back at the beginning. Well, yeah. That's just something else. I may not have remembered everything that happens in the book but there are conversations and actions that I remember more because of what happens later in the series and the fucking emotional upheaval they are going to cause is torture. I don't know if it is better to know or to not know.

I need to make sure I do a re-read way sooner next time. To me, it's in my top five, no three, of all time and it's been way too long.

L-O-V-E-D IT! I am so freaking glad that I have fallen in love with the M/M genre and it led me here. Here I realized, with Ty and Zane, is where I forever want to be. This to me, worked so well. I am a huge Romantic Suspense fan and this is an awesome start to what I know will be an awesome series. I believe this relationship. I want more of it and I know I will be devouring this series. **Audio Re-Read**

I think I forgot. No, I know. I totally forgot the beginning. I forgot the level of emotion from the very beginning between Ty and Zane. And yeah, in the very beginning, none of it felt good. At times, it even felt like it should never be good. And that is probably the reason this series is loved. It isn’t a fairy tale. It feels real. The emotions are honest and man oh man, I can’t wait to be reminded of it all.

On to the next one!

I love a good mm story where the MCs hate each other at the beginning. It makes the realisation, o fuck I think I love him, so much more sweeter.

I am in love with these boys, the only thing that I wished that would have been different is their fighting, there is just a little too much of that going on and I fear that it will go on in the subsequent books. But I will continue on as I am hoping that there is going to be an amazing HEA for them when all is said and done.

Rereading this was a blast! I had forgotten how much they snarled at each other. Zane was so good to read. His over the top neurosis were on display. He is a full on addict and it was hard to read but yet Ty never babies or decide he was not worth working with once they started getting into the case.

This book took all my pre-conceived ideas about "what makes a good romance" and turned it upside down. It was so different from what I normally read but there was a beauty in the relationship between Ty and Zane that I didn't expect.
