SPOILER-FREE REVIEW
Devney Perry, the bestselling author of the marvelous Jamison Valley Series returns with an extraordinary and memorable standalone love story. Her book covers alone are deserving of their own reviews – each one is exquisitely beautiful.

Enjoyed this story! Cole was pretty f-ing terrific, and I thought he was very patient, supportive and sweet. Loved how they slowly became friends and more, though was REALLY ready for them to become more when it finally happened! :-) A few things at the end were a bit too predictable for my tastes, however, they were meant to be sentimental and I think, trying to make a bigger point, so I was okay with it. Just a slow-burn, feel-good romance. :-)

I loved this book, it was so different from her Jameson Valley Series, but Perry still kept her wonderful emotional connection to the characters that I adore. I really enjoyed the concept of what this story was about, growth after loss, love and finding yourself.

For a book that starts out in the most heartbreaking way, The Birthday List turns into the most beautiful and romantic second-chance story. It is one of those books that makes me fall back in love with the romance genre.
Poppy is a strong and resilient character. She had to learn to take life “minute by minute” after she was left having to find a way to “stand tall” as her world fell apart around her.
“Then she took another step back, standing tall. Damn. Even blotchy faced, she was beautiful. S ...more

A romance story about healing after a tragedy and finding peace and love again.
Poppy has been mourning Jamie for 5 years. She knows she needs to get to a better place and maybe completing her husbands birthday list (sort of like a bucket list) will help her get there. Cole was the officer who delivered the tragic news to Poppy 5 years earlier and stayed with her for hours to make sure she was taken care of. When their paths cross again at a karate class that Poppy is attending to complete an ite ...more

I loved Poppy and Cole. Their romance was effortless, considering the obstacles in their way. Poppy is a widow, has been for five years when Cole comes back into her life. Of all the people to be the one to catch her eye after five years of mourning her husband. On top of that to run into to him, the man who came to you in the beginning as the officer who told you about your husbands death, the way she did was beyond amazing.
