I loved getting to know Jax but I wasn’t really into he and Stella together. My least favorite of the 3.
Always fun though when the whole Kill John family gets together. I’m looking forward to Brenna’s book. I also hope whip doesn’t get left out. 3 1/2 stars

I was excited to read this book because I saw many people on my dash liking it, but sadly it wasn't the same for me. This is the first book of this series I read, and I know I should have read it in order but I don't care, since the stories are connected but can be read as a standalone. I may try reading "Idol" later. Maybe I'll find it better. Who knows.

John and Stella's story started off well, and there was a nice build up of their feelings and how they behave around each other that was of my liking, because it wasn't too slow nor too fast. I was liking the story up to around the 50% mark, then it all went downhill for there and I found it hard to keep up and finish the book. Plus, I found that after this mark the couple lost their chemistry.

Like I said, in the first part we see how John and Stella meet. He is a famous singer and musician and he's in a supermarket preparing for a blizzard storm that's about to hit New York. When he's about to pick his favorite ice cream, Stella kisses him and steals it from under his nose. Needless to say, the simple encounter makes them start fantasies on each other, which is not unusual since a normal person can do it all the time when he/she has a funny encounter in a normal place, but at some point an innocent "omg I should have talked to him/her because he/she was hot" became too annoying. I know that person was hot. No need to repeat it all the time in every chapter. Thanks. This was my only crux for the first half, because like I said, the development wasn't bad and I liked the complexity of John. But then, delving into the second half of the book, Stella's Mary Sue character came out full force and I started getting bored by her POV.

Stella is a normal girl who was abandoned by her father and luckily for her, she does a creative job that helps her survive. At first, I liked her. She and I had some things in common and I thought I had found a relatable character in the book. But then she starts revealing her "secrets" and it seems she's seeking pity instead of comphrension, as if she's trying to hide her life from the male character but at the same time she wants attention. In the second part it seems she (view spoiler) Besides what I've written in the spoiler, what put me off was the lack of plots towards the end. It seems the story was moving at a slow pace, where nothing great happened and in which I found Stella getting worse and worse.

What saved this book from going completely downhill was the character of John "Jax". He is one of the leaders of Kill John, a famous band that has tons of fans. John was remembered not only because of his fame and handsomeness, but also because he tried to commit suicide two years prior to the story of "Fall". This is not a spoiler because who has read the other books knows it and the author wrote it in her opening note. Anyway, John was the best thing of this book. His complex personality was well written and despite some moments where I wanted to roll my eyes, he had a relatable personality. It may seem John is the "weak" one if you read the blurb, but he isn't. He is a survivor and does his best to keep up and find himself.

I really, really, wished to have liked this book more, but who cares. I'll still try to read the other books by this author because I like the setting and the characters, so you may read more of my reviews on this series. ...more

Oh man you guys, this book. No one mixes comedy, romance, heat and angst quite like Kristen Callihan. This book is no exception. This one is the best in this series by far (and I loved the others) and tackles tough issues like depression and anxiety with care and perspective. Highly recommend.

Loved it but have been in a weird reading mood so I didn't become as invested in the story as much as the previous ones.
I do know this author rocks and even though I don't have personal experience with Jax's level of issues, I thought it was written well. ...more
