Reread 2021 review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

As I'm rereading this, I'd forgotten how much I hated Thea and Kyra (Luna's sisters). Luna deserved better than how she was treated by them.

This book was a hard one for me to read, not because it wasn't good (I mean come on, it's Mariana Zapata, of course it's good!), but because I identified with Luna. Not the specifics of what she went through, but that I don't have any family and what people I do have around me...Why bother them? And why bother asking when you'll just

I enjoyed this book, just not as much as I was hoping to. I do like this author's plot style and I'm good with her continuing to do it - it just works for me. I liked the broody a-hole lead, Rip, and I found him sweet and sexy underneath all that gruff. And I liked Luna and appreciated her efforts to always find gratitude and happiness every day (I could really learn from her), and I think she had a really good heart. However, she was a bit too much of a martyr at times, and her struggle to acce ...more

I love this story. So quirky and funny while also deep and emotional, a bit swoon and So Sloooow burn!!

“I was fine. The heart is more resilient than anyone ever gave it credit for, and I liked to think mine was a bad bish.”

Luna is a strong and resilient survivor. She pulled herself and her three younger sisters out of a bad situation. She has a smile and good thoughts and words for everyone around her, but she is hiding scars and triggers from her past.

“You kill me, girl,” he murmured in the

I really enjoyed the ending and was happy to see Luna and Rip get their HEA. I just found this one was too much though, too much inner dialogue, too much repetition, too much of Luna accepting whatever came her way. The writing reminded me of some Kristin Ashley books where everything is described in so much detail that it gets a little annoying. Which is very different from the other Mariana Zapata books that I have loved.

I started this books months ago and I've finally finished it. When I started I wasn't in the right head space, and it seem to moving along slowly. Not in the "slow burn" way, but slow progression way.

I picked it up again on Christmas day and realized how great it is. Heck, I was even in tears a bit of time and that is saying something.

I think my problem was that Luna allowed people to walk all over her, and I couldn't get on board with that at first. Once I got into the heart of what made her
