*Note to self dont start a Brittainy Cherry book unless you intend to be up until 2am because you literally can not put it down.

I fell in love with this book from the first chapter, I mean c’mon Mr. Rogers, Harry Potter, AND Spice Girls references! Not to mention serious nostalgia from being a teen in the early 2000s.
All that aside, I fell hard for Grayson East, the boy AND the broken man he became, and his redemption was everything!

Oh be still my heart. This book took me in so many directions that my heart just couldn't take it. I loved Grey and Ellie growing up, I love Grey being such a great friend. They were both so broken and found love and friendship with each other when they needed each other.
Fast forward fifteen years and I couldn't stand Grey - even though he had such a great reason to be even more broken.

Once I started, I didn't want to stop. That's what happens just about every single time I pick up a book by Brittainy C. Cherry.

Was this perfect? No. It was a heartbreaking tale of love and loss and 2nd chances.
Did I think that Eleanor was too forgiving? Yes, but it wouldn't have been her otherwise.

Firstly I would like to state that part one was my favourite part. It actually outshone the second part for me. I just thoroughly enjoyed the sweet innocence of the slow burn romance. I will be frank I preferred Grey from part one more than Daddy Grey (lol) He was the epitome of a dream book boyfriend. I was so envious, I really wished I had a young love like them. If I was Ellie I would ride that wagon till the wheels fell off.

I was a little disappointed about the character development and the fact that H and h just fell out of touch so easily, given how strong their love was at the start I was shocked it happened. Again, I LOVED 17 year old Grey, he was so darn sweet. Ellie, gahhhhh! From the very start I was relating so hard! It literally felt like my own self being portrayed as a character in a novel. Introvert? Check? Book Nerd? Check. Reads books at social settings like parties? Big check.

Her sass and optimistic attitude was so endearing and I instantly fell in love with her. In part 2, there are glimpses to her humor but I felt with the context of the second half of the novel I couldn't fully appreciate it. Which brings me to story line.

I really did appreciate how realistic the approach to grief is, I was internally screaming most of the book. I could not fathom that Grey ends up with someone else. I was frustrated because I understood it was needed as backboard into the plot but still they were suppose to be forever, dammit!

Supporting characters were great. I loved Lorelai and Karla - especially Lorelai. Her spirit reminded me so much of Ellie at the start that I had such a soft spot for her. Even Claire was a great supporting character. I even loved Nicole, she was still a really lovable character. Kevin? Not so much. Which was devastating cos I adored him at the start, but he began to redeem himself at the end so all well ends well. Lastly Shay, another one of my faves. I loved her humor. It was a great way to break up the serious tone in part 2.

All in all, despite being upset the book didn't go in the direction I was hoping it still remains undeniably one of the best books read this year and I would strongly recommend this to all other readers. ...more
