With ties to the first book in the WHERE duet, fans will be happy to see the return of Josie and Zach.

A romantic thriller with a fiery start and a nightmarish storyline, WHERE THE TRUTH LIES is set once again in Cincinnati and filled to the brim with creepy vibes and dark and heartbreaking angst. Flashbacks lock readers into the page-turner that starts strong and never slows down. For this reader, it is always a positive addition when points of view come from both the male and female versions as here – from our hero, Detective Reed Davies and our heroine, Dr. Elizabeth Nolan.

With interconnecting plotlines, the believable and likable characters are compelling and their story is thrilling. Sheridan does an expert job in building well-developed characters with that added bit of depth that makes them memorable. A relationship surprisingly develops from an instant attraction that leads to a one-night stand followed by an early morning escape. Sizzle and emotionally charged passion is pre-ordained when the detective and doctor come face-to-face again in a surprise and shocking encounter.

It always helps to add a little humor and witty banter to help balance out the dark grittiness of a psychological thriller. There’s a strong and entertaining cast of secondary characters that help out in that area.

The multi-dimensional storylines remind me of well-cut puzzle pieces. With each additional clue, another piece of the jigsaw snaps into place. A cleverly drawn chiller that includes lots of twists and turns, readers are kept guessing right up to the explosive conclusion.

One small nagging hangover left me perplexed regarding a couple of interesting characters introduced early on. I thought both would play a deeper role in the progression of this story. Instead, they fizzled and disappeared without explanation which was a small frustration when it came to a full and complete closure.

Too many details spoil the story for others, so I’m going to stop by saying that readers will find a perfect balance of romance, chills and kills and thrills, along with an amazing hero who’ll own your heart and leave you breathless. Perfect follow up to Where The Blame Lies which absolutely must be read first. Reed ( Josie’s son) is the hero here. I loved that this is his book. Mystery aside, and it’s a doozy, it’s the relationships that make this book for me. Reed with his sister, Josie and especially Zach (Sigh). Don’t worry in this there’s plenty of action with another serial killer terrorizing the town. It’s just as twisty as the first and I loved it. 5 stars.

Life certainly can run in circles. The cause and effect that exists between events that shape our lives can lead us down uncharted paths.
