I really enjoyed this historical romance of lords and ladies and pirates!
Don't expect your typical historical romance since it was written by Pam Godwin who isn't afraid to make you a little uncomfortable and writes dark and gritty stories. There were definitely some hard to read scenes and also some funny and emotional scenes. There was also lots of sword fighting action and resultant injuries. Of course there's romance but again not your typical romance. Just so good!! ...more

This is one epic story filled with pirates, shipwrecks, captures, rescues, sword fights, love triangles, and hidden treasure. This read like a movie and I was hooked. This book took me back to when I was a teenager and couldn’t get enough of these tales. Even though it is historical it felt “ modern” in its storytelling which I appreciated. I highly recommend this “new take “ on an old tale. 5 swashbuckling stars!!

This story was a mixed bag for me. There were parts where I was so moved and pulled in and others where I wondered if the words or descriptions were just thrown in to reach a certain word count.
Overall, I liked each of these characters. I don't feel we really got to know Priest as well through his own actions, but by the end I still liked him.
