Wait a minute. I know you're looking at that rating going what the hell Ivy, but lemme splain. This absolutely benefited from the novella length format.

Yes, it is fantasy and if you're not a fan of KA's fantasy series, you're never going to like this anyway, BUT if you are a fan, then this leans into her ability to create found family dynamics AND it doesn't settle into HEA territory too soon either. Loren Copeland & Maxine Dawes (aka Satrine)

Another addition to the Fantasyland series. Isn't it grand!?!

Anyway Maxine is forced to leave our world to pose as her "twin" from a parallel world (universe?). The plan is for her to pose as Lady Maxine and marry Loren, Marquess of Remington. Her dad not dad is an as the is forcing her into this by holding her mom and "sister" captive.

Luckily, he doesn't succeed in his endeavors, but his wish for Loren to fall for Maxine may indeed come true. He just ...more

If there's one thing that KA does well, it's write novels that transport you to new worlds. This one does this literally, and takes the reader back to Fantasyland and Hawkvale.

This has some of the themes of the others with parallel worlds, arranged marriages, fancy gowns, inclusion of parents in the story, and secrets that come out. Maxine is the daughter of a Count that has been arranged to be married to Loren, the son of the Duke. The only problem is that Maxine had an injury as a young girl ...more
