I chose this as one of my July 2023 Amazon First Reads. I’ve read several other books by Yarros and enjoyed them so felt this might be a good bet. And the bet paid off -- captivating from the first page!

I spent some time thinking about what I wanted to say about this story before coming here and I just have to start by saying that the writing is great. I loved all of the elements dealing with their experience in the present in a war zone. Nothing about that experience was sugar coated.
I also liked how the past was so effortlessly integrated into what is going on in their present. The romance part is where I had the hiccough. It ended up feeling like years of hurt instea ...more

I love Rebecca's books, and IN THE LIKELY EVENT is no exception. Rebecca's writing is great and filled with all the feels. This is one book I will definitely read again, especially to catch the hints to the surprising twist at the end.
