I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had to read it for my AP Biology class as our final and it was truly amazing. At times, it was upsetting and even shocking. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the fact that it got a bit repetitive towards the end of the book. However, the last 3 or 4 chapters are enthralling and offer a great conclusion to any possible loose ends. It was a very interesting and easy read. Excellent book. While the science of the HeLa cells was interesting, it was the relationships and the people of the family that I was most toched by. This book helped me understand more about others' points of view - the family members in the book were so un-like me. It took me a while to understand where these people were coming from, but that understanding really opened my eyes to how some people think. Very interesting.

Consumed as an audiobook - the narration was very well done. Skloot weaves what could have been a wildly incoherent chain of events into a fascinating tale of a woman, her questionably-procured cells, and the repercussions of that procurement to this day.
