I absolutely loved this book. I added it to my list some time ago, but only decided to read it today because I wanted to get a head start on reading for my Literature for Adolescents class. It took me less than two and a half hours to read. I couldn't put it down. The format gave great insight into Charlie that you don't typically get from other books. I only checked this book out because I read on Yahoo.com that it was one of the most banned books. I have mixed feelings about the book. Charlie was too sentimental for my tastes at times especially at the beginning but he did say/think some really nice things that made me stop and think for awhile. But I had to laugh because there was a girl in my middle/high school that used a hot dog.

I made it just past halfway. Right around where the narrator starts relating to The Catcher in the Rye. I can see why this book is over-appreciated. It's written poorly, which is meant to seem purposeful, but feels like a decoy, a way to get around the author's flaws. I wanted to feel for the character, but there is an unrealistic amount of suffering/realization of suffering taking place in a very short span of time. Chbosky is torturing this character, and I'm not going to read further to see h
