I liked this book because of the way that the author incorperated a lot of Shakespeare into the life a child from 1967. When Holling's teacher, Mrs. Baker, says that Holling will begin to read Shakespeare with her, I thought that the book would get boring but I kept reading and I really couldn't ever put down the book. Great book!!

At first, I didn't have the patience to read this one. The beginning is so silly, but I thought I'd give it a try on audio. Again, I almost didn't make it past the first few chapters, mainly because the audio book narrator mispronounces "St. Adalbert", putting the emphasis on the initial "ah" and the final "bert". He also mispronounces "Bethel" as "Beth-L" emphasis on "L". There are more mispronunciations later in the story but these two are so frequent at the beginning of the book that I almost

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Very good book, and I can see why they added it to the Battle of the Books list. Husband is now reading it, and he's enjoying it, too...and trust, he is picky about his reads!
