I really liked this book. It was a good mix of YA and murder mystery. And I probably would have rated it 5 stars if not for the ending. A huge cliffhanger and nothing was really ever resolved in either of the two murders the book focuses on.
The character development was great and it was nice to see such a diverse group of kids who might not otherwise be friends, but who supported each other anyways. I really liked the main character, Stevie, too.

Truly Devious is based on a mystery spanning several decades at the Ellingham Academy. Maureen Johnson writes a descriptive setting that I felt I was walking the grounds with Stevie and her classmates. Stevie is passionate about true crime and in solving the mystery from 1936 but then mysterious things begin to occur. The cast of characters are unique and any reader can find one of them to connect with. This story is told with a dual timeline and is full of mystery and suspense. I will continue
