This third book in the series had the most excitement in the form of "technical difficulties" and continued all the previously established story lines. Even in the midst of life threatening danger, the light tone pervaded the book. My only complaint was that it took the entire crew months to figure out the problem. Trying to make Ishmael the big hero ended up making all the officers look a little less competent than might have been intended.

Ishmael Wang gets another promotion in this book, as you might have guessed from the title, and starts to think about life after his tour of duty on the Lois McKendrick.
If you've listened to the first two boks in the series, you more or less know what to expect here, although things to get taken to the "next level" to an extent; the ship is put in some very real danger this time around, some of the interpersonal issues raised in the earlier books come to a head, and we're left with a strong feel ...more

I was a blubbering mess after finishing this book. All those sad goodbyes. It's a good book, not perfect, but it's easy and fun to read.
Like Quarter Share (Golden Age of the Solar Clipper, #1) and Half Share (golden Age of the Solar Clipper, #2), this book is a slow burn. It's not high action, but in this case, that's perfectly fine. It's in a way a coming of age story divided over 3 books (which I would've combined into one), of a young boy (Ishmael Wang) who was forced to leave his homeplanet, ...more
