What Members Thought

Well I have finally finished read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (after everyone else it would seem) and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. Okay first of all I want to say that I didn't set out NOT to like it - its just when you seen so many reviews praising it and expounding upon how good it was, you will have to admit a slight trepidation, after all if I didn't like it what would that say about me. But my fears were misplaced, the story is compelling and easy to get in to -

My actual rating for this book would be 3.5 but as that is not an option I decided to go with 3.
I loved the premise of this book. The book cover and the blurb ensured that the book ended up on my TBR list. Having read it I'm sure of two things: 1) the best thing about the books have to be the peculiar photographs of peculiar children & 2) I enjoyed reading the story enough to want to read the second book Hollow City but not enough to jump on it right away.

Why Read: This book was recommended to me by a very dear friend of mine, and although the cover was slightly disturbing, and the pages that I flicked to were also concerning: I felt like I had to read it. This book is practically the gospel as far as some young-adult aficionados say. Not to mention... it's horror-themed. I was gnawing at the bit to read it, and by the time I got around to buying it for a friend's Christmas gift, I could wait no longer.
