Fishy, fishy in the brook, what's Irene's new favorite book?
I won't bother leaving a 'proper' review for several reasons:
1. NOTHING I say will EVER do this author/book justice;
2. This author needs to be read by EVERYONE who craves originality;
3. This author's storytelling can only be described as 'life changing'.
I might add to this review when I can form a coherent sentence. In the meantime ... read this book! Read this author. If you are like me and A. value your reading time and B. want to EXP ...more

I can't believe 1) I read this book, 2) enjoyed it and 3) am reviewing it. I don't read much fiction and usually only historical fiction. I definitely don't read chick books about dance and theater and hurty feely stuff. But my girlfriend was reading it and she was having some outpatient surgery. so I was in the waiting room, hungover with nothing to read. I had her bag, the book was in the bag and I started reading it out of boredom. I figured at best it would put me to sleep.

Amazing. Steals your breath. A coup of a debut.
I don't do plot summaries. The book blurb tells you what you need to know and I don't do spoilers. What's the fun in that? FYI, I read this as an ARC and I knew I was holding something different - that special extra of WOAH. It's calgon and it took me away.
The story is told from Erik Fiskare's POV and starts in college. It's his story, his experiences and they are amazing. Suanne Laqueur choreographs a perfect dance in this tale of love, turning poi ...more

I received this book on Friday and finished it on Saturday night. Yes, it was that good (had I not needed to feed my family, walk the dogs and SLEEP, I would've finished it the same day, I couldn't put it down!). With her freshman outing, Suanne Laqueur hits it out of the park and leaves the reader wanting more...from Daisy and Erik...and from her. While her love and knowledge of dance and theatre are quite apparent, it is the relationships that draw you into Ms. Laqueur's story. Yes, she has a

I read this book as soon as it was released and have since gone on to read others. But this one, the characters and their real-life tragedies and victories, is one of a few that has stuck with me through them all.
It doesn't surprise me she's cleaning up here, as her talent humbly shines through in her character development. The author doesn't throw around intelligence and language for the fun of it. Instead, she throws you into the middle of an unseen world and asks you to become a part of it.

Magic in a Bottle;
As a reader, I gobbled this story up in giant spoonfuls, like the best homemade ice cream on a hot July day. As a fellow author, I stand in slack-jawed awe saying "how did she create this magic?" There's no formula. We can't put it under a microscope, peeling away the layers, so that we can dissect it, diagnose it and reproduce it. Magic defies our clumsy attempts at affixing a label. But this story is pure magic simply because the author had the courage to write the truth. She ...more

I can't believe that this is Suanne Laqueur's debut book! It is absolutely beautifully written. From the first chapter, I was drawn into the story and fell in love with the characters. I couldn't put it down! I can't believe it's over! I can't wait for Suanne's next book!!!
