This was a nice little read, not too hard but not too light. I wasn't crazy about the "letter" format. I kept buzzing past the dates and other introductory information and going straight to the letters. I don't care to piddle around with that stuff -- I want to read the book! So, I might have missed out on a few things that way. The end was contrite which I also didn't like. It was almost as if she decided, "I don't want to write any more" and cut it short. While the setting/background of this book was fascinating (the Guernsey occupation by the Germans), this book just felt like a small English romance with recycled characters. I'd love to learn more about the occupation, but I found this book a lousy way to do so.

While this took a little while for me to get into I really liked it in the end. I have become quite attached to the characters and will miss them!
