I came into this book with very low expectations. They were greatly exceeded. I very much enjoyed her writing style and the description of her journey. Fascinating to see such a frank discussion of the power of prayer and God in modern mass media. I have a very different personality from hers, so it was fascinating seeing just how much she destroyed herself and what it took to build herself back up. I am inspired to restart my Italian and meditation journeys.

Elizabeth Gilbert wrote two of my favorite books (The Last American Man and The Signature of All Things) but I have been convinced for a long time that this is not my type of book, so I avoided it. This book really annoyed me at first. I wasn't even sure I was going to finish it. By the end I really really liked it.
