This book kicked ass. Craig Gilner is a fifteen year old boy living a fairly blessed life in Manhattan. He gets into the Executive Pre-Professional High School, which is the most competitive high school in all the boroughs, and proceeds to buckle under the pressure of the expectations and workload. Craig's mental health spirals, culminating in a call to the suicide hotline, where the voice on the other end tells him to go to the ER immediately. Craig Gilner gets in over his head academically, and the stress is too much for him. He considers suicide, but fortunately remembers his mom's instructions to call a suicide hotline if he needs to. He voluntarily admits himself to the mental ward at the hospital, and in this expectation free environment has the time to find some answers.
This is a very even-toned book, with matter-of-fact exposition. Even when Craig is ready to jump off a bridge you don't get much sense of drama. I guess that's
