Shelves: ya, realistic
When I saw the cover and title of this book, I expected it to be Gossip Girl, with a tinge of burglary.

It is not.

Our hero spends only a scene in a boarding school, and then flits about the world in a caper to save her dad. There's a rather stereotypical (though still lovable) crew of criminal kids. There are numerous paternal figures, though they are absent enough for the kids to be the heroes, and there's the tragically lost mother. But it's all done very well. Solid, solid middle school bookt

Very Ocean's Eleven, with teens. Kat doesn't want to be in the the family business anymore. She conned her way in to boarding school, and just wants to be a normal teenager. But to save her father, she has to do one last caper. But she can't do it alone. She needs a team...
Kat was a likable protagonist, although I rolled my eyes a bit at her makeover from smart but nondescript student to girl with legs and cleavage. Yes, of course, she's secretly a hottie. Shocker! ;)
