This is my 100th book of 2012! Whoo hoo!
This book uses unconventional scrapbook-style storytelling to introduce the reader to Glory and Francisco, two talented young artists in love. Glory is a gifted pianist under a lot of pressure; Francisco is struggling at school, where the only class he doesn't fail is Art. The more I think about this book the more I really like it. Completely non-traditional in format, this book is told using scraps of paper, photographs of objects, instant messages, and more. This could seem like a gimmick, but it really does a beautiful job of telling its story (a story that reminds me of Memento and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and lots of other mind-bendy type movies I loved when I was a teen).
