I hate to say this, but the movie is better. Aaaah, blasphemy! But it's true! Emma Thompson, who wrote the screenplay, injected some lovely light touches of humor that the story of the Dashwood sisters really needed. The Margaret fencing with Edward, for example.
The book does not sparkle, not like Pride and Prejudice. Elinor's a little too stuffy, Colonel Brandon a little too old. But that's okay, I still like it a lot. it's just not my favorite.
