I enjoyed this but found the end a bit improbable. Also some of the language and ways of thinking seemed out of sinc with the time period. But a good read never the less
Great story. Writing style? Not so good.
I had to read it for work...given that, if you are going to write a story about the depression era traveling circus, do you still have to have a tragic hero and a sappy love story...come on...so much to work with here that was wasted.
In reading other reviews, I discovered that this is one of those books that you either love or hate. I came down on the side of loving it. It is an entertaining story of a fly-by-night circus in the height of the Great Depression, told in the memories of a 90 year old man (or 93 he can't remember which). If you are bothered by sexuality in literature, don't read this book, but really, it isn't the main focus...just documenting the life of a 23 year old on the run with a circus.

The writing didn't seem very sophisticated, and it didn't seem much deeper than the actual plotline. However, I am extremely excited to see how this story translates on screen.

I loved this novel and am excited for the film version! It is full of romance, adventure and mystery- what is not to like?
I loved the ending. What a heartfelt story.
