Ok, I came into this one from a lot of hype from my friends, all fans of the 10 Cent Menace as I am. The art looked lovely and it seemed like I could find something interesting here.
I think my problem with this book is that it seems the author can't decide what he wants to do with all of these "interesting" elements. Super-yummy comic book. There are definitely lots of common elements, but I like the edgy combination of them here. Plus, the characters and illustrations are gorgeous. Very adult, but I appreciate the straight-forward plot here. It feels cleaner than a lot of comic books. Plus, the creatures are awesome. Giant turtles, monsters with giant mouths, spider people, red ghosts, tree rockets, giant cats, and a lot a lot of sex and violence.

What's not to love about this graphic novel? Here's a short list of things you can look forward to: interspecies intergalactic marriage between star-crossed lovers, unassisted childbirth in the back of an auto shop, extreme breastfeeding, robots with TVs instead of heads, an extremely explicit panel with a lot of queer/lez sex, giant cat that can detect lying, child ghosts with their guts hanging out, and a rocketship made from a giant tree.
