This book is funny enough, I guess (she says begrudgingly) but I did not like it. Her writing style is redundant, which sometimes is a powerful literary technique, but here it came across as annoying and limiting. Her stories are kind of funny and kind of sad but she is not caustically observant or sad enough to make it meaningful in either direction. Reviews of this book were so good, that I actually broke a cardinal rule a gave a copy to a friend before even reading it (but I did buy it from an independent book store). Many months later on a daunting solo road trip to Ashland Oregon, I started listening to it as an audio book.

Hehehehehehehe. Hahahahaha. this book definitely had some good moments. I really admired the author's complete disregard for any kind of need to adhere to a typical book structure, or use proper grammar, or tell a story in any kind of linear fashion. This woman is completely off her rocker. Damn, how I wish I was her friend.

I LOVE The Bloggess. I used to read it when I needed to laugh uncontrollably. I listened to this as an audiobook, and it just didn't move me to laugh the way her blog does. I'm not sure if it was the long-form or the audio. It was still interesting and worth a read, but if you want to end up feeling like you did too many sit-ups because of how hard you've been laughing, read her blog.
