What Members Thought
The book was okay. I learned a lot about the Main fires of 1947 that I did not know were real. I was disappointed with the ending and the main character potentially gets together with guy that I did not want her to get with. The book is also riddled coincidences that just happen to make it easier for the main character.
The main character had to make a new life for herself and her children. She lost everything in the 1947 fire that devastated homes all along the Maine coast. Book club members found the novel contrived.
