I LOVED this book. Helene is quirky and funny. Her correspondence with Frank and the others associated with the book store is heart warming. I laughed out loud at Helene and see several of my friends in her personality. This book has some of the best lines. I got this from the library and I now must go out and buy a copy for myself and for others as well. Thank you Karen F. for recommending this delightful book. Need to go find the movie too.

The (at least) 3rd time still brings new information and chuckles.

A charming story of a lover of the written word and the booksellers she deals with. The letters during the wartime years were, for me, the most touching. A quick read that will stay with you for a long time.

Delightful book of letters between a New York writer and an antique bookseller in London. Perfect for bibliophiles and Anglophiles.

A delightful story of friendship that evolves through correspondence over a 20 year period between a freelance NY writer and a secondhand book seller in London. Favorite quote about books, "I shall sprinkle pale pencil marks through it pointing out the best passages to some book lover yet unborn." ...more
