Shelves: own, kindle, fantasy-magical-realism-fairytales

It's no wonder that this book took 10 years for the author to write. Clark ceates an incredible world that is complex to the point where the footnotes must be read in conjunction with the story to get a complete understanding.

The book is about two magicians and their differences in opinion over what is actually the historical magical past and what role magic should play going forward. Other than that, there's about 100 things going on here.

Such a big book to rate just ok. Problem was every time I thought to give up, it started to get interesting. Other problem was that the author needed to include every idea for every side story that ever occurred to her. I learned that I could skim some details and keep moving through the narrative. Final problem was that the Kindle version had too many annoying punctuation issues. I hope those weren't in the print version too. ...more
