The six deceptively interconnected stories in Cloud Atlas are compelling, poignant, funny, pointed, insightful,and possibly most of all, thought provoking. I can't help but admire the author's ability to write such a powerful group of stories, each with it's own focus and thrust, yet each relating to all the other stories. Shelves: alternate, favorites
This book comes together like those little Russian Matryoshka dolls. There are 6 intertwined stories here that span centuries of time. Yet they all feed off the previous narrative. Each one is so well written it could stand alone as a Goodreads 5 star novella.

Its hard to come up with a quick sentence or two as to what the book is actually about. But maybe that's not the point. The journey is sweet, very sweet.
