The six deceptively interconnected stories in Cloud Atlas are compelling, poignant, funny, pointed, insightful,and possibly most of all, thought provoking. I can't help but admire the author's ability to write such a powerful group of stories, each with it's own focus and thrust, yet each relating to all the other stories. This book comes together like those little Russian Matryoshka dolls. There are 6 intertwined stories here that span centuries of time. Yet they all feed off the previous narrative. Each one is so well written it could stand alone as a Goodreads 5 star novella.
