What a loss. I finished this book one year and one day after the author died. I feel that "we" have lost a man who would have been a marvelous doctor, husband, father, and friend. He writes so well and seemed to have a miraculous intuition about his role in life and his dying. I know I will read this book over again and again. Strongly recommend. ...more

Wow - what a powerful book! Although I don't think I loved it quite as much as others, it really was a fantastic read. If only all doctors cared so much about patients and their experience as Paul did! His story is fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time! His story is so worth reading and thinking about. He was such a wonderful HUMAN ... I can't recommend this one enough. It's a beautiful book! ...more

This nonfiction memoir is beautiful, heartbreaking, and inspiring. The story has stayed with me for days and left me speechless for how to describe it properly.
If I tell you the memoir is about a man dying with cancer, you might reject it as being too depressive to read. I want you to read it. While, yes, the subject matter is difficult, the words are honest, hopeful, and encouraging.
Give it a try. It's short. What's the worst that can happen? You might be glad you did.
