Reminiscent of, but more accessible than, "The Sound and the Fury." Four narrators, all convincing, fully thought out, and eloquent in different ways. I loved each of them and even though I read the last third of the book in a rush (the story takes an unexpected turn as a thriller as it ends) I didn't want the story to end. I would love a sequel, but it's a perfect story as it is.

I listened to the audio version of this book and my first impressions were that it was boring and melodramatically written. Still, it had so many good reviews I felt that it must improve. It didn't. I finally gave up half way through. I really wanted to get into it and enjoy, but I just couldn't. Maybe my taste in books is just too plebeian, but I just do not get the hype of this book.
